Seve Ballesteros Foundation visits CNIO

Carmen Ballesteros, daughter of the legendary golfer Severiano Ballesteros, visited the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) yesterday, on behalf of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation and donated a cheque for 100,000 euros. CNIO will destine this amount to support brain tumour research in the laboratory of Massimo Squatrito, Head of the Seve-Ballesteros Foundation Brain Toumour Group, led by the researcher.

During her visit around the facilities at CNIO, Seve’s daughter was accompanied by the Centre’s Director María Blasco; the Director of the BBVA Foundation-CNIO Cancer Cell Biology Programme, Erwin Wagner; the Director of the Biotechnology Programme, Fernando Peláez; the oncologist Cristobal Belda, and Squatrito, amongst others.

The value of the cheque is the proceeds from the third edition of the Desafío FSB, which is made up of several charity tournaments that have taken place in different golf courses throughout Spain.
