Requirements for making a request

  • The request should be completed according to the “Request form” provided on the web page. It is mandatory to fill in the field of the patient Clinical History unless it is a research project. In this case, it would be necessary to include the project code/agreement on the billing information.
  • Samples should be correctly identified. You can send them at room temperature:
    • Sections on treated slides (for immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization) or untreated (for histological staining or Hematoxylin-Eosin).
    • Paraffin block.
    • Formalin-fixed tissue: for an optimal fixation, the tissue should remain in formalin between 24h (minimum) and 48h (maximum), depending on the size of the biopsy to process. It is recommended to discuss the exact time bearing in formalin at the moment of shipment.
  • You must send at least 3 paraffin sections from 2 to 4 microns.
  • The tissue sections should preferably be recent cuts to avoid loss of antigenicity.
  • The slides for immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridization techniques must be treated to prevent the detachment of the samples during the process.
  • For CISH in paraffin, send the entire block, if possible.
  • To do tissue arrays, we recommend that the donor blocks have at least 2mm deep tissue, and if they are damaged and/or very old, you should remake them into a new paraffin block.
  • For laser microdissection, you can send either the block to make the desired technique, or the unstained slide or stained with H&E. Treated slides, untreated slides or membrane slides will be admitted.
