CNIO Friends philanthropic initiative will allow eight young researchers from all over the world to join the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) next year, thanks to donations to the program.
The deadline for applications for the new call of the CNIO Friend Postdoctoral Contract Program is October 2, 2023.
Information about the program and how to apply is here.
The postdoctoral stage is crucial in the research career. It is the last step before consolidation and often takes place in more than one research center. Since the creation of CNIO Friends of the CNIO in 2014, 35 young people have received postdoctoral contracts through this pathway. All had to successfully pass a demanding selection process.
The selected candidates in the latest edition of the program are researching areas of high activity for the international scientific community, such as ageing -the origin of most of the diseases that affect us today-, pancreatic cancer -one of the most lethal forms with the fewest therapeutic options-, and the search for biomarkers to detect early metastasis.
As could be seen at the recent CNIO Friends Day, the profile of the donors is diverse: from very young people aware of the problem of cancer, to others who are older, some with a career related to medicine and science.
