Under the slogan ‘We do research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer’, CNIO scientists will show the experiments they perform every day and answer questions about their profession
It will be possible to visualize tumor and healthy cells under the microscope; observe how skin lesions are detected and monitored; and see images that show what happens inside cells
The 'Madrid es Ciencia' fair takes place from March 7 to 9 at IFEMA
More than 500 highly specialized people work at the Spanish National Cancer Research Center, the CNIO, to ensure that cancer ceases to be one of the leading causes of death. The CNIO is among the top ten monographic cancer research centers on a global scale, both in number and quality of scientific publications and in innovative developments that can lead to new drugs and therapies.
Training and dissemination of scientific knowledge is also a priority at the CNIO, which is why about twenty CNIO researchers, from different backgrounds and areas, will be at a stand at the “Madrid es Ciencia” fair this week explaining exactly how cancer research is carried out.
Understand your DNA
Under the slogan “We do research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer“, at the CNIO stand visitors will be able to understand why what happens in the DNA is key to the development of cancer.
It will also be possible to visualize tumor and healthy cells under the microscope; observe how skin lesions are detected and monitored; and even see images obtained with advanced techniques that show what happens inside cells.
In addition, scientists at the stand will answer all the questions not only about their daily work, but also about their career, studies related to life sciences and possible career opportunities.
The “Madrid es Ciencia” fair is organized by the Community of Madrid. It will be held from March 7 to 9 at IFEMA. It is part of the Education Week, the largest event for the educational world in Spain, and many scientific, technological and general institutions linked to innovation participate in it.
The CNIO stand will be located at 5D03A in Hall 5.
It will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm from March 7 to 9.
Tickets, free of charge until full capacity is reached, can be picked up at the “Madrid es Ciencia” counter – South Gate of IFEMA.
