A high-priority objective of the CNIO is to translate advances in basic and clinical research into a more effective clinical practice. To this end, it is essential to train medical doctors and other health professionals in subjects related to the molecular basis of cancer and in the use and understanding of state-of-the art models and experimental systems.

The CNIO is glad to host specialised practitioners and residents in training from any biomedical specialty related to the oncology field (MIR, BIR, FIR). This training programme consists of a three-month hands-on stay within research groups at the CNIO, in which the methodological aspects of molecular pathology applied to the diagnosis and treatment cancer will be learned. Laboratories accepting rotating residents include the Melanoma Group and the Epithelial Carcinogenesis Group. For MIR, BIR and FIR, these stays are included in the Residency rotation programme.

This training at the CNIO will allow access to attending seminars, pathology training sessions and other research activities, and to experience the atmosphere of a world-wide institute at the forefront of investigation in cancer.
