We have an opening at the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), one of Europe’s leading research institutions in the cancer research field based in sunny Madrid (Spain). The CNIO harbours at present more than 450 researchers working in both basic and translational aspects of cancer research, in a highly dynamic, energetic and international environment. The CNIO is organized in several thematic programmes, including a Biotechnology Programme on which the Flow Cytometry Core Unit is integrated and aimed to provide expert technical support and expertise to the CNIO Research Groups in flow cytometry. We are looking preferably for an experienced cytometrist with at least three years of experience in a core technological platform with hands-on cell sorting experience, but alternatively, reduce flow cytometry experience but a hunger to learn, and a good attitude/aptitude towards technology, and interest on developing a career as part of a technological Unit, will also work. Our unit is currently equipped with three high speed cells sorters: a FACS Aria IIu, an InFlux and a MoFlo ASTRIOS plus four analytical cytometers FACS Canto II, LSRII Fortessa X20 and an AURORA 5L. We are looking to incorporate a new FACS Discovery S8 cell spectral cell sorter with imaging capabilities within the next year. We also have some small equipment such an AutoMACS Pro, GentleMACS and a couple of automated cell counters we take care of. Currently the unit is serving over 250 users and among our task it is to QC and maintain all the unit instrumentation, operate the cell sorters and train users on the analytical instruments and data analysis platforms. As part of our mission we also test and develop new tools in collaboration with others to improve cytometric tools at the CNIO.

Criterios de evaluación

– Bachelor degree in the biomedical field.
– At least two years of hands-on experience in flow cytometry will be value, including cell sorting.
– Advance knowledge of flow cytometry adquisition and analysis software packages (FlowJo, FCS Express, SpectroFlow, OMIQ, FACS DIVA) will be an advantage.
– Tissue culture and lab experience on sample prep will be require.
– Advance IT skills including knowledge of programming languages will be a bonus.
– Proficiency in English will be require. Proficiency in Spanish could be an advantage.
– Inititative, flexibility and the ability to solve everyday problems related to your duties is need it. Good social and organizative skills are need in the position as well as the capacity to work with deadlines and multitasking. We are looking for a good team player but that can also work independently upon appropriate training. Good communication skills are mandatory to be able to train others effectively in flow cytometry technologies.
