Publications

It is the responsibility of the CNIO to guarantee that the contribution of the different groups coordinated by the Tumour Bank Network is fairly and explicitly recognised in the scientific publications resulting from their activity.

As a basic rule, they should follow the principles set out in the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts as Submitted to Biomedical Journals, produced by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, 1988; 108:258-304 and accepted by the main periodical biomedicine publications throughout the world.

In the instance that undertaking work involving collection and/or treatment of data (for example, special pathology methods, revision of clinical histories, etc.) is necessary, such collaboration must be expressly mentioned in the resulting publications.

The Tumour Bank Network recommends researchers using its services to recognise such collaborations that are especially pertinent to the development of the projects by including them as co-authors of their publications.

Researchers who use material originating from the Tumour Bank Network are required to mention this fact in all publications arising from the use of these samples. This mention must appear at least in the Methods or Acknowledgements section, adopting the following formats:

"Tissue samples were provided by the Tissue Bank Network founded by the Molecular Pathology Programme of the Spanish National Cancer Centre, with the collaboration of the following hospitals:..."

The group Leader must send two copies of each publication to the central office of the Tissue BankNetwork.
