The section of Molecular Pathology is responsible for the diagnosis of tumors and evaluation of prognostic indicators for either primary diagnosis or as a second opinion. The team of pathologists on this service integrates cytogenetic, immunohistochemistry, and molecular data with histomorphology to arrive at a final diagnosis. The pathologists follow the general guidelines for second opinions in diagnostic anatomic pathology developed by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
