Friday, February 1st
6 p.m.
CNIO Auditorium (Melchor Fernández Almagro 3, Madrid)

On Friday, the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) will participate in the celebration of “Wold Cancer Day” and will open its doors to the public to hold a debate with four researchers to talk about the four pillars in the fight against cancer: Understanding, Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment.

CNIO’s Director, Maria A. Blasco; the Vice-Director of Translational Research, Manuel Hidalgo; the Head of the Molecular Pathology Programme, Marisol Soengas; and, the Head of the Human Cancer Genetics Programme, Javier Benitez will participate in this debate, which will be moderated by the scientific Journalist Mónica Salomone.

The event will also be an opportunity to introduce the CNIO´s popular educational book Disarming Cancer, written by Salomone and illustrated by the visual artist Amparo Garrido.

Both the book, a not-for-profit sale at all VIPS Group bookshops as well as via the CNIO website, and the debate, are intended to explain the latest advances in cancer research to the general public.

For this reason, the first 50 visitors to confirm their assistance, before Friday, will receive a free copy of the book at the end of the event if they send their personal details to desarmandoalcancer@cnio.es.
